Hassium Media Knob

Easy setup guide for first-time use, controls, settings, and troubleshooting.

First Step

Do this first to turn on the device when you receive it

The device ships in Shipping Mode and will not turn on until you press reset. Press gently in the hole named RST on the surface next to the knob using the reset key provided, or a toothpick, or a dull pin.

Quick Setup

  1. - When you receive the device, it will be in Shipping Mode and will not turn on until you press reset.
  2. - Charge the knob fully (multicolor LED means fully charged).
  3. - Wake it with one press or one turn.
  4. - Open Bluetooth on your phone, laptop, or tablet.
  5. - Select "Hs Knob" or "Hs Knob-XXXX" and pair.
  6. - Turn clockwise once to check volume up works.

Top 5 Quick Fixes

  • - Not visible in Bluetooth -> Wake knob and retry.
  • - Connection drops -> Forget knob on old devices, pair again.
  • - Not reconnecting -> Turn Bluetooth off/on, then wake knob.
  • - Settings page not opening -> Connect to Wi-Fi "Hassium Knob", open your browser, and go to 192.168.4.1.
  • - Not turning on -> Charge first, then press reset once.

>Before first use
  • - Press the RST hole once with the reset key. LED should flash blue.
  • - If LED does not flash blue, charge the device first.
  • - For first use, charge fully until LED shows a multicolor glow.
  • - Do one full charge once so battery reading stays accurate.
>Charging
  • - Use a standard 5V USB Type-C charger and cable.
  • - Avoid damaged or very low-quality chargers/cables.
>Connect and pair
  • - Wake the knob using one press or one turn.
  • - Open Bluetooth on your phone, tablet, or computer.
  • - Tap "Hs Knob". Sometimes it appears as "Hs Knob-XXXX".
  • - Pair once. After that, it reconnects faster in daily use.

  • - Blue breathing: Ready to pair or reconnect
  • - Green flash once: Connected
  • - Amber flashes thrice: Disconnected
  • - Yellow constant breathing: Settings mode active
  • - Purple pulse: Play / Pause sent
  • - Red triple blink: Going to sleep
  • - Quick white flashes: Profile changed
  • - While charging - Red breathing: Low battery | Blue breathing: Mid battery | Green breathing: High or near full | Multicolor constant glow: Fully charged (remove charger)
>Settings
  • - Press and hold the button for 3 seconds to enter settings mode.
  • - Connect to Wi-Fi "Hassium Knob".
  • - Wait 10 to 15 seconds. If page does not open, open your browser and go to 192.168.4.1.
  • - You can change sleep timer.
  • - You can change wake play/pause delay.
  • - You can change LED brightness (Min, Mid, Max).
  • - You can turn charging LED on or off (keeping it on is recommended).
  • - Open Advanced settings/Key mapping for custom key mapping.
  • - When done, tap Save and then Exit Config.

  • - First open Settings. There you will see an option named Advanced settings.
  • - You can change what each action does.
  • - Actions include single/double/triple press, turns, and press + turn.
  • - After changes, tap Save at the bottom.
  • - Use "Reset advanced to default" to restore default actions.
  • - Tap knob 5 times to switch between normal profile and custom profile.
>Sleep
  • - Knob sleeps automatically to save battery.
  • - Sleep time can be changed in settings.
  • - It may sleep after idle time or if it stays awake without connecting.
  • - Press and hold for 6 seconds to sleep manually.
>Troubleshooting
  • - Knob not visible in Bluetooth: Wake it and try again. Make sure Bluetooth is ON on your phone/laptop.
  • - Connection keeps dropping: Forget knob on all older paired devices, then pair again.
  • - Not reconnecting: Turn Bluetooth OFF then ON, wake knob again, then pair again if needed.
  • - Settings page does not open: Connect to Wi-Fi "Hassium Knob", open your browser, and go to 192.168.4.1.
  • - Knob does not turn on: Charge first, then press reset once.

  • - If knob behaves unexpectedly, press RST hole with a SIM tool, toothpick, or dull pin.
  • - Press gently to avoid marks on top surface.
>Care
  • - Keep the device dry.
  • - Do not use damaged charging cables.
  • - Avoid very hot environments.
  • - Use standard 5V USB power sources only.
  • - Do not leave it plugged in and unattended.
